The information imparted here is based on research and experiences.
As aforementioned arbys is a prominent fast food restaurant chain operating especially in US and Canada. This fast food bistro is majorly known for its delicious food items such as roast beef, sandwiches and fries, something that you must try. However, this is not it, arbys menu also contains numerous other finger licking treats such as appetizers, chicken sandwiches, wraps etc.
History of Arbys restaurants:
Arbys restaurant was found in the year 1964, By Leroy and Forrest Raffel in the region of Boardman, Ohio. The duo then realized the opportunity for establishing a fast food franchise business which would include food other than hamburgers. They wanted to name the bistro “Big Tex” which was already in use then, so they decided to call it “Arby’s” which sounds as R.Bs standing for Raffel Brothers.
First Arbys menu and its restaurant:
The duo opened their first restaurant on 23rd of July 1964, in Boardman, Ohio. Initial Arbys menu included Roast Beef, potato chips and sandwiches along with some soft drinks. A year later, the first Arby’s franchisee opened in Akron, Ohio and the eminent Arbys logo ‘the hat’ came into existence which was designed by Peskin Sign Co. By the year 1964 there were two more franchised Arbys restaurants at Pittsburg and Detroit. Gradually the business started to grow and during 1970s Arbys saw a success rate of 50 outlets annually.
Introduction of curly fries and low calorie menu in Arby’s menu:
Through the course of time new items where added to the Arbys menu which included beef ‘n Cheddar, curly fries etc. It also introduced two unique signature sauces, namely, horsey sauce and Arbys BBQ sauce. With the opening of its 1000th store Arbys also included chicken in its menu. And by the 1991 it became the first restaurant to offer ‘lite menu’ with food items with less than 300 calories and 94% free of fats.
Business journey of Arbys restaurant:
In the year 1994, DWG a southeastern public service company bought Arbys. The company was new name Triarc Companies Inc and was planned to be resurrected with approx 100 million funding. Due to low response and poor scores in market tests, Arbys’s sold 354 units for $71 million. However, in the year 2002, Arby’s started its operations again with its second largest franchisee, with 293 outlets, under the name Sybra Inc. This was done to outbid RTM and stop it from becoming more prominent. Arby’s then purchased RTM on 25th July 2005.
Finally on 13th June 2011 Roark Capital Group bought Arby’s side of business from Wendy’s/Arby’s groups which was bought by Triarc in 2008. And yet Arbys is doing good business under control of Roark Capital Group.
Well this was the business aspect of the company. It is obvious that most food aficionados would be interested in Arbys menu listings than its turn over.
